Syphon allows applications to share video frames in a client -> server
format. It's lossless, has excellent performance, and gives tremendous
flexibility.
Were it a device in ffmpeg you could do something like create elaborate
setups and transitions in CamTwist or VJ work in VDMX and send that
straight to ffmpeg in real time. It would allow for more control over
streaming and recording.
