Heh.
I believe this is because the Gif decoder outputs RGB instead of PAL8.
This is technically a regression since
91499f4ee825502677dfc11b00205538720d0513. I don't remember the rationale
behind this decision, but I'd love to see the decoder output PAL8 again.
