So something abound snd_pcm_wait seems to not be a solution on its own...
For comparison though, using ffmpeg with the JACK input only ate about
2-7% CPU for each of jackd and ffmpeg, running jackd in 48000/s16LE mode,
and using ffmpeg to write a 48000/S16LE PCM wav file. Still
investigating...
