OK, thanks. That gives me a lot of things to try. From what I had read on
the list, I thought that the goal was  to offer a single solution that could
be applied whenever telecine was involved. My observation is that telecine
is nearly always involved when a commercial DVD title has a frame rate of
29.97 fps.
