Is it possible to get FFmpeg 3.1 on Centos 7.2?

please understand that this here is UPSTREAM and ONLY SOURCE where nobody cares about distribution A in version B as long ./configure to build from source is not part of the question

We currently have ffmpeg 2.6.8 installed when using yum install ffmpeg.

CentOS is a LTS distribution

FFMPEG says that it's strongly recommended to upgrade to 3.1

well, learn to build from source or just use the distributions packes - there are not many other options

[harry@srv-rhsoft:~]$ rpm -q ffmpeg-latest
ffmpeg-latest-3.1.0-2.fc23.20160627.rh.x86_64
