Yes exactly. I've been running a bunch of checkouts, build, test since
yesterday, it might explain my wording lapses.

It has to be a side effect of another commit because
git diff 9884f17..309fa24 libavformat/hls.c

yields no difference between the master commit and the branch commit (as
expected)

I think so too but I don't understand the code either.


Just a side not, I mentioned it already but, if the m3u8 is converted
(codec copy) to mp4, seeking and counting frames works in all these
versions.
