I think 80 is a pretty standard width for terminals, is output from ffmpeg ugly with that setting?

Yes, but Carl Eugen asked me for a wider terminal to have prettier
outputs, but it diesn't help.

Thunderbird, for example, wraps text at 70 chars when sent. I believe the 70 chars cannot be changed. It's always seemed strange to me that TBird, the originator of sent text, does this rather than leaving the recipient's display to the recipient.
