I don't think that the input video contains black spaces. The input video is 1920x1080 and it has "rotate=90" set in the metadata. That's why FFmpeg rotates the video and the output is 1080x1920 and there are no black spaces in the output. If you don't like this output, what do you want instead? Do you want to cut off the top and botton part? Then you must use the crop filter.
