When I use ffmpeg 9.0 to run NVENC command on a PC with NVIDIA Pascal GPUs like GTX 1050ti inside. (The PC has already installed the last version of driver that support the GPU in Pascal architecture (version 580). ) It will pop up an error: [h264_nvenc @ 000001f3457b4780] Driver does not support the required nvenc API version. Required: 13.1 Found: 13.0 [h264_nvenc @ 000001f3457b4780] The minimum required Nvidia driver for nvenc is 610.00 or newer Unfortunately, NVENC API 13.1 (or newer) and NVIDIA driver 610 (or newer) no longer support NVIDIA GPUs with the Pascal architecture. NVENC API 13.0 and NVIDIA driver 580 is the last version that support these GPUs (Include GTX 1080 Ti, Quadro P6000 and so on).
Because of this strict compatibility requirement, in order to use NVENC on GPUs in Pascal architecture, I have to keep ffmpeg at version 8.1.2 and cannot upgrade anymore. Though the Pascal architecture is relatively old, But the truth is that even the entry-level GPU (like GTX 1050 Ti) in Pascal architecture can run NVENC fluently and in fast speed (test in ffmpeg 8.1.2). There's no reason to stop these GPUs from using NVENC. I sincerely hope you can fix the compatibility problem and lower the minimum version requirement for the NVENC API to lessen this limit, Thank You!
