Jean Haines,
To skirt your fleeces, lay out each flat on a large surface, keeping the
shape as in a sheepskin mat. Using fingers (as opposed to whole fistfulls)
take off all dags around the crutch, go around the fleece taking off all
hairy pieces on the legs, all urine stain on the belly part, take off all
cotted (felted) wool on the cheeks & neck wool that has a lot of vegetable
matter in it. Finally, take off any wool that is less than about 3" long
then roll up the fleece from tail to head (or vice versa- doesn't much
matter) with the cut side out then you can stack each on top of others & the
fleeces will stay seperate even if tightly packed in a wool press.
Use your skirtings around your fruit trees or garden as mulch.
Hope this helps.
Lorrie (Australia)
