The UFO Retreat. was wonderful. Now that I have caught up on my rest, I can say that!! By bedtime Friday evening folks were already looking forward to the next one and wanted to know what the dates of that would be!! Turns out our Camp Stevens host, Gustavo, is a knitter. He is from Ecuador and is working at the Camp for a year to learn how to organize and run such a facility. He learned to kniot at 10 and told me his mother wasn't too happy about her son knitting as it was not macho enough for her. He wanted to trade some RedHeart for yarn of a more masculine color. THE Judy gave him some yarns, but she didn't have much with her. Some members of the group are planning to send him some more yarn. If anyone would like to join in, you may email me for the address. We hope to see him at our San Diego Knit Togethers. I had ordered sunshine as I really wanted to sit on the balcony in the sun and knit while gazing at the panoramic mountain view. But folks had to take my word for it about the view as we had six inches of snow instead. No one seemed to mind that and we sat around the fire eating, knitting, eating chatting, eating. I had a private tutorial from Jackie E-S, one of the most gracious women I have been privileged to meet, on those Spider socks I wrote about a while ago. We ate a lot of goodies. Many comments were made mourning the absence of Sockguy. However there was some perking up when I announced that the next UFO Retreat would be planned around Sockguy's schedule so he could be there. There was a lot of good stuff to eat. I surprised people with goodie bags and we had some brown paper packages tied uip in string as prizes for different things...who came the furtherst, 1st to finish a UFO. We even had a an award called The Froggie for the most congenial person there. This will come as no surprise to any of my readers that I did not win this award. The recipient was determined by a blind vote and the winner was David Rippberger, Kathleen's DH and a sweetie snookums he is too. Not at all testosterone impaired. The food that Camp Stevens provide was really delicious...so many organic fruits, veggies, salads. And the knowledge in that room was so inspiring. I will be knitting and hopefully learning to spin real soon. It was amazing meeting all of you and hope we do this again." Two nights of that made this old knitter dingy. Since getting home was across the mountain I had the luxury of napping plus going to bed early. It was a great pay off for me!"
