Jeannette (and everyone else): Might I humbly suggest that you visit the SierraSpun Studio at http://www.sierraspun.freeservers.com/ for my tutorials on dyeing in a crockpot? I use roving (merino, superwash, and unnamed wool) for this method and have not had problems with it falling apart. The tutorials show KoolAid and Easter Egg Dyes, but I've also used acid dyes such as Jacquard and others. Same methods - use a *very small* amount, though, as these dyes are much stronger than KA and EED. Crockpot dyeing is easy and fun.
