I haven't touched fiber, other than washing all my wool and llama's fur, much all summer and my old Ashford spinning wheel needs some work so I have done very little spinning. I've requested some upgrades and new parts for it for Christmas, because my Mom lives close to an Ashford dealer. In August, the weather started to cool and I was inspired to finish a machine knit sweater made of wool and Afghan hound fur that a friend had commissioned. I then made some hats on my machine to possibly sell to a Bison farmer I know who has a little shop, but I liked the hats so well I decided to keep them and maybe give some as Christmas gifts.
Now, I'm working on a maternity sweater for myself and decided to use up a lot of my thicker, one-of-a-kind or leftover handspun to crochet a new pad for a used changing table I bought. It's coming out really nice and I can enlarge it into a throw rug when it's done being a changing table pad. I'll have to cover it with something to keep it dry and protect the baby as it's not necessarily soft wool, but it is really interesting looking so far and nice and spongy. I'm using that two sided hook method, with lighter colored yarn on one side and darker on the other so it will be reversible. I have three crocheted sweaters I've been working on now and then since last winter, but I'm just not in the mood to get them out right now since I probably won't be able to wear them until next winter anyway, except maybe the cardigan which is the closest to being finished. I got frustrated with some hand knit slipper socks I started last winter too, but I re-found the pattern this morning and am thinking of trying to finish them after I finish the pad. Hand knitting is not my best skill, but I am working on learning it to do things like socks. Our spinning guild learned to make some hand knit lace bookmarks as practice for a lace shawl pattern in October, so I'm thinking of getting back to trying hand knitting again as my bookmark actually came out pretty good. Maybe I'll try the shawl if I can get a few other things done, but I'm eager to get back to spinning again, so that may go on hold for a while.
