Barbara, I had great success dyeing a dark brown fleece a couple of years ago. Used a strong concentration of teal blue, with very nice results IMHO. The final color is more of a dark slate blue, but completely satisfactory and definitely no longer brown at all! I would suggest you make an allowance for the brown color with any shade of red you use; you might get more of a brick red from a scarlet, and so forth.........
