"Would anyone who has organized one of these
demonstrations be kind enough to share how they went
about it? A friend of mine took on this job for a
local sheep & wool festival and needs a bit of
assistance and I offered to send the question out to
my fiber groups. Any help would be appreciated.

David in Rhode Island."

Are we talking demo or contest? A demo is pretty simple. Get as many
spinners together as want to come and find a willing weaver. Get the
festival to give you a spot out of weather and hours of direct sunlight
where people can watch.

When we do a demo, we usually wash our fleece first (so we actually call it
"fleece to shawl" because we don't like spinning in the grease), but if you
prefer to shear a sheep and then spin the fleece, you will need to arrange
for that.

Have the loom warped before you start. We usually raffle off the shawl when
it is finished.

I have actually set up a couple of SMALL fleece to shawl competitions, if
your friend wants to e-mail me off list, he/she is welcome.
