Our 4th Monday Spinning kicked into the New Year this week and I'm now the proud owner of more fleece! A little brown almost mousy [300gm] & a deep dark black merino [200gm] which is part of a much larger beastie each one. It was fun deciding after we threw it which bits we all wanted to have. One of the ladies decided she just wanted different coloured locks and we kept telling her "over here Lily". We also have a Texel fleece but run out of time to deal with that - it's of the cream variety but I think I will need to have some of that as well.
Each month we will work through using our new fleece until we have produced something hopefully by the end of the year. Of course there is every possibility that some will still have it in it's original bag but hey it doesn't matter. Next month we will look at the Texel and also try some natural dyeing - we have chosen onion skins as they are the easiest to collect.
On the weaving front - I decided I had, had enough of the new sellers stash so I moved things away from one of my looms and got to it in the weekend........there was a note on it saying "missed dent to be rethreaded" but there were threads here and there so I just rethreaded without much thought. This warp was from years ago so I had no conception of what weft/pattern was supposed to happen and so with great aplomb selected 4 brights and wound them together. To see this daring but narrow warp, I have pictures at allfiberarts forum in the Weavers Show & Tell. And it's fun just to weave for no apparent reason when all I have been able to do of late is spin. [nothing wrong with spinning but I love weaving just as much]
