<snip!> but it eliminates the weak area where the decreases are in the usual flat toe. Darns in that area are a real bear!
Hey, Holly, there's a difference between our wear patterns already -- I never wear out the toes of my socks! Only the heels. A second spot is under the ball of my foot. No I don't use a ply of mohair and a ply of wool. I was describing a yarn that was about 20 or 25% mohair blended with wool. Sorry I'm not very scientific with spinning. I figure life is complicated enough and I want my spinning to be fun and relaxing! The wool (I think it was Romney) literally wore out of the blend leaving the mohair behind. I could tell because the mohair was a different colour than the wool. Go figure! Mmmm...angora socks. What a luxury! I've always thought I should make a pair but didn't want to actually walk around in them. <g> My feet aren't usually cold in bed so bed socks aren't too useful. Maybe for when I'm sitting with my feet up watching TV? I have lots of nice English angora left over from my late lamented bunnies. I'll have to make the socks slightly large because English angora felts as soon as you look at it! Even when I pre-abuse the yarn -- a la Judith Mackenzie -- there's still quite a bit of fulling of the knitting just in use and careful washing. I think French angora isn't quite so bad in this department. Hugs, Louisa To stop mail temporarily mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: set nomail To restore send: set mail
