Dear Fibernetters,

I was in the fabric store this afternoon and saw something new (new to me anyway) Its suede on one side and fleece on the other ... synthetic, but maybe also washable? It looked and felt real enough, at least the suede part did ... nothing really feels like wool except wool. (in the upholstery section of the store)

The other thing to try ... use a sheep's pelt to cut out the sole ... leather on one side and wool locks inside. Trim the locks to the length you want for the inside.

I bought a pair of slipper soles, assuming they had fleece on the
 inside, but they didn't--plain leather.

Hi Holly -

I have made basic socks and sewed them to the soles, but I didn't like that
very much. How about putting a piece of fleece or felt in the sole, then
you can pick up the stitches and knit the top.
