I'm spinning some hemp for the first time. It's rather like flax roving--and seems to be spinning all right. My plan is to use it as weft on a cotton warp for a summer-weight shirt (singles, not plied).

Here's the question--does the yarn have to be finished in any way before weaving? Boiled, beaten, subjected to abuse? Or can it just be woven straight from the wheel.

Yes, I know--SAMPLE. And I will. But thought I'd get some informed opinions also.
