I'm working with 4-Hers age 10 - 16,. IN are scaraves, and they really like
the Lion brand "homespun" which is bulky, has great colors and works up
fast. NOT my favorite, but they love it and it's a better choice than reg
acrylic. Friend is doing LONG scarves - very in in S CA now, using size 17
needle and one size 9 to make the scarf. Does garter stitch. Have one girl
ready to try that.....cast on about 25 sts and go for 6 - 8 feet.

My girls are all doing hats and scarves right now, but do love to shop in my
basket of one of a kind handspun. LOL

One of my girls also had idea to make squatres for afghan for homeless
project Michaels has going. Do a square and take it in to donate, or do 49
squares and put them together for your own afghan. Quick and easy project
in stockinette or garter in ACRYLIC only *yuck* but required. We have
donated stash of acrylic so it works for us.

Try Brown sheep yarns - my girls find they are economical and HUGE range of
colors. Also come in various weights but they like the worsted weight
singles as they knit up fast, a BIG consideration at first is to finish
projects.

Good luck. You're free to contact me off list if you want to chat more, be
sure to ID yourself in subject line or I'll delete as junque.
