Many thanks to all who gave such good suggestions for my knitting class! I'm through the first session with nine girls, and things are going well. I chose a "Spirit Scarf" in the school colors for a first project. Everyone was thrilled that they could take home their yarns and needles for the week, and very motivated. For the next project, I found some inexpensive eyelash yarn to make those boas kids seem to be wearing now, to give them instant knitting gratification, and to hide uneven stitches. The girls seem to be putting up with me OK, and it was great fun. I am surprised at how slowly most seem to catch on, though. Is that standard? My daughters just ripped right into it when shown, as did one girl in the class, but most seemed to take forever, and be extremely unsure about everything. Maybe they are just not as used to hand work. Or maybe it's me. I just tried to be supportive, and all turned out fine. Again, so many thanks, Beth Myers Concord, CA Foothill Middle School After-School Knitting Class Instructor........
