Sunday, November 14, 2004, Vermont Fiber Retreat, Adams Farm, Wilmington, Vermont. 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Early Shetland Spinning and Knitting workshop, based on late seventeenth-century artifacts found in the Shetland Gunnister dig as well as others. Participants will have the opportunity to compare early Shetland fleece to what's being produced today, and work on spinning a fine two-ply Shetland yarn, to be used to knit a reproduction of the Gunnister Man's knit purse (pattern provided.) Non spinning knitters will be able to purchase a yarn kit. Spinners should be competent in using a wheels or spindle, and spinning a length of yarn. Experience with plying is a plus.
