I have been working with a group of 4-Hers ranging in age from 8 to 18,
teaching them to knit. One of the mothers, who drives over 30 miles, stays
and has also started to knit. I just heard from the community leader today
that I have a waiting list of several (two have been waiting over a year
now) so we are going to try to expand my little group by one every month or
so so I only have to deal with one young new knitter at a time until the
group reaches a total of 8 - I"ve had two "drop out" because of college
committments etc and another will be moving.

Two of the knitters (the commuters) and their mother are now learning to
spin - borrowed three of my wheels, drum card and a bag of fleece and
they're off and running.

There is interest in these crafts, but we must be willing to offer time,
sometimes equipment, patience and encouragement.
