I know there is, at least, one processor on the list........ maybe other
folks could answer this question, as well.
Hi, folks -

Is it possible to get roving processed in a determined diameter, or
thickness? What I'm thinking of is a roving that I can just run through my
bulky spinning wheel, without drafting, and have the yarn be a fairly
consistent size....and be able to let it wind on without pulling it through
the orifice by hand. I would like something about 3/4 the size of all the
pounds of roving I have now........ I believe the diameter of this stuff is
about the size of every other ball of roving I have bought, so maybe it
can't be done.

I have finished weaving the rugs that I talked about before...... finally.
I got one with the white mohair full of dandruff (I forget the correct goaty
word), one with a dark brown wool that I was told was merino, and one with a
wool I didn't know I had......... and I don't know what it is!! Of course,
the best looking one is the yucky mohair....... even though it is full of
junk, it has a nice sheen and the finish of the yarn looks really good in
that rug. I can't sell it because of the junk, so I'll just have to keep
it......... oh, hurt me. ;-)

The mystery wool is a rather crimpy, very springy, dingy looking fiber that
I could not spin into a nice, regular yarn. I admit that could be because
of several reasons not related to the wool. It doesn't seem to be a harsh
fiber, but it won't draft nicely, at least, not in its present state. It is
too springy to work well in the rug, and I suspect it will turn to felt in
no time........ might not be a bad thing, we'll see.

Another question for fiber processors......... can roving be reprocessed
successfully? This stuff has been scoured, but it is full of dirt........ I
have to clean my wheel after every ball and I still get the dirt everywhere
when I weave it. Will it turn to itty-bits if subjected to recarding?

Thanks for any thoughts on this. I hope to get pictures on my website when
I have hemmed the rugs......... and learned how to update my website. :-P
