Hmmm... Sheepies in Cow Town. Are they travelling incognito?

I also live in Vacaville. My house is "in town." (Our sheep and alpacas are on the family farm, five miles north of me, but still considered "Vacaville.") One of the things that I appreciate about where my house is located, is that there is a large chunk of undeveloped land, rolling hills, starting on the next block over from me. It is owned by the city and the city leases the land to cattle ranchers to free range. (Reduces the fire hazard.) I can sit on my couch and look out our front window at the hills and watch the cattle. They are within ear shot as well. Thankfully, because they are free-ranged, there is no smell. I wouldn't mind free-ranging my sheep out there, but, the fences aren't set up for them, and there are coyotes. We even got an automated telephone call from the city police alerting us to a mountain lion that had been spotted on the hill next to the road.

I'm glad that I'm in a unique spot where I can still enjoy this small reminder of country life.
Vacaville's population is over 90,000. I originally moved here in 1989 when the population was about 70,000. Houses now stand where sheep used to graze. And, in other areas of Vacaville, the cattle are being moved out to accommodate more housing.
