You might want to try making a short ruana (very easy,
essentailly just a rectangle for the back and two
rectangles for the 2 fronts, though of course you can
shape them more; knit straight garter or stockinnete
or any pattern you want). I'm at school grading
papers--yes, I know it's Saturday--and I don't have
any pattern books handy, but I'm sure you could come
up with sources on the net. I live in a huge drafty
house in which both my husband and daughters respond
to low temps by raising the thermostat. Hopefully now
that the youngest is off to college I can train Allen
to wear sweaters more. But then in school, I bring a
heavy knit jacket to wear during the hotter months,
when my classroom averages between 55-68. Now that
it's gotten cooler I am preparing for a more tropical
clime at work.
