Well, for one thing with wool, we'd STILL be fighting the sometimes real, but more often just imagined sensitivities there! And a lot of those that are real are caused by the chemicals used to process the wools. So we can't win either way.
And a lot of people seem to believe that cotton is the ultimate, natural, safe fiber - ignoring the tons and tons of chemicals and water that it takes to process it. I also remember a ways back, all that promotion of "green" fibers - reprocessed yarns and such. The manufacturers just found a new way to promote "shoddy" - yes, the true meaning of the term - shoddy=reprocessed! Unfortunately most people forget that animal fibers from sheep/goats/camelids are also very much renewable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Suzanne Correira, www.fireantranch.com in Elgin, TX Black Welsh & Shetland Sheep: Fibers, Yarns & Goods Roberta & Majacraft Wheels.
