It's that time of year when I frustratedly search the Internet for good
books to order locally and give at Christmas. Our family always does
mostly books for presents :)
I've been wondering about Elizabeth Wayland Barber's _Prehistoric
Textiles_ for my daughter (and, coincidentally, she might share with me
<g>).
Does it have much on actual textiles, or is it mainly narrative about
the process of making them, like Women's Work? We don't want to get a
duplicate of the latter book, though we certainly enjoy it. We want
more depth, especially analyses of textile finds.
Any other recommendations in this area are also welcome. But soon--we
get a 20% discount if we order before December 1st :)
Also, if there's any expert on linguistics on this list, who might be
willing to recommend some books for a person whose favorite topic of
conversation right now is the structure of ergative/absolutive
languages, I'd appreciate a private email!
Thanks,
Holly
