Hi Gang: Stepping out of lurker mode here, actually if you're interested you can purchase microfiber yarn. (See Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc.). I know that this might be an unpopular suggestion, but it seems to be the most pratical if what one is looking for is really microfiber.
As far as alternatives, I'm biased, I like wool or alpaca for warmth. Further, I enjoy working in alpaca and I like the drape. An Angora blend might also be something to consider (depending upon allergies). If moisture is the actual problem not warmth then cotton or linen.
