I made some for my mom a few years ago. I measured her hand for the right size. I used dyed Corriedale top (Spinner's Hill 'Crazy Balls' ) and spun a bulky 2 ply and knitted a swatch. Measured it before and after felting to see the amount of horizontal and vertical shrinkage. Then calculated the changes to the pattern. I knit the hand part only and used a piece of 5/2 perle cotton at the cuff, then shrunk them. Once dry, I picked up stitches where the Perle cotton was, removed the cotton and knitted a nice snug ribbing.
They are perfect for really cold days and nearly waterproof. Barbara Clorite To stop mail temporarily mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: set nomail To restore send: set mail
