There is a fairly new mystery novel out that is about
handspinners, as well as knitters:

While putting it 'on hold' at my local library, I found there was also
available a copy of a book, dated 1945 I believe, with the same title,
by Ngiao Marsh.
I reserved that one too - just for fun. The small bit of info on the
website said the subject matter included knitting and knitters.
