>>I have a nice tiny book about Aran sweaters that indicates that the white heavily patterned sweaters are a 19th century sort of touristy thing.<<
I have several of the Clancy Bros. CDs. In one of them, there's a blurb about them wearing their 'signature' Aran sweaters. Their mom would knit sweaters, and then ship the sweaters from Ireland to the U.S. Each sweater is different. Each one is rich with cables and diamond patterns, and... <holding head> I'm dizzy. Based on the amount of work that each sweater must have taken, I'd have to agree that sweaters like that, would only be used on special occasion. wrnk d2 (whistling along to 'jug of punch') To stop mail temporarily mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: set nomail To restore send: set mail
