I have to ask. Why would one iron a perma-press shirt?
These were dress shirts that DH wore to work. Puckered seams and
rippling pockets just Would Not Have Done.
Depends on the job environment of course. In my university teaching
days the high prestige disciplines were physical sciences. We wore
jeans or khakis and open collar shirts. Professors in Education and
Business wore suits and ties with ironed shirts. Each group was
comfortable in their own environment.
Now he's retired, and I don't iron his shirts even when they are
*not* perma-press. (I do shake them until cold after heating them
in the dryer, and dry them on suit hangers.)
Sounds just right.
