The 'plaid' type Gamp Cj may have been recalling is detailed on the cover of
the Winter 1976 Shuttle Spindle and Dyepot. Inside is a picture of a model
wearing the gamp skirt woven by Carol Thilenius. The Gamp was seamed on the
diagonal so the lighter colours created an apron effect on the long skirt.
I made a colour wool gamp for a fall jacket and was pleased with the
result when I added black overshot pattern as a border over the bright
colours. I left out the blue & purple tones, so it gave me autumn colours.
