I purchased some of Robin Snyder's red/cream karakul lamb fleeces several years ago (usual disclaimers) and i spun them up for making woven throws. I used cotton warp, a few warps and shots of dyed singles I had on hand for accent and let the natural fleece colors fall where they wanted, choosing skeins at random. The throws turned out beautiful, and are sturdy, colorful and very comforting - great "bankies". Gave one to a neighbor who helped with an ailing horse, and his wife said the grandkids all love "grandpa's blanket"...so I, for one do not relegate Karakul to rugs only - altho I certainly wouldn't want underwear from it <gg>. Back to the theory that a good fleece is one that fulfills the purpose you have in mind for it.

Layl in SE high desert Arizona where we are rapidly warming to the 90's if the WIND would just stop!
