Any new fiber takes a while for your hands to figure out. First of  
all, do you know how long the fibers are? To find out, pull a handful  
off the end of the top. Next pull bits back and forth until you've  
figured out how long the staples are. Now hold your hands farther  
apart than the length of the staple. That way you aren't pulling on  
on both ends of a fiber when you're trying to draft.

Spinning from the fold works, too. I find it hurts my index finger  
too much so I don't do it.

And I'd play for a while just spinning the Lincoln. Let it be bumpy  
for a while. Your hands will figure it out. Keep your brain out of  
the way ;-)
