I just got back from the Estes Park Wool Market (still going on today)
and my 2-day spinning workshop. Thanks to all for recommendations on
carders. I won an auction on ebay for a pair of Clemes and Clemes wool
carders. I used them at the workshop and I love them! We carded from a
couple of Corriedale fleeces and they worked wonderfully. The air was
really really dry in Estes Park, so there was lots of static, making it
a little difficult.
I bought some yak down in the cloud form and was thinking of spinning it
right from the cloud (when I get better at spinning, of course). If I
wanted to card it, though, I would have to get really fine carders,
wouldn't I? Is carding recommended? I bought the cloud because it was
1/2 the price per lb of the roving. I also bought Pygora fiber. I am
really excited about Pygora goats (cross between Pygmy and Angora). They
have a wonderful temperament and are small - and there is a farm close
to where I will be moving soon, to the shortgrass prairie of Colorado
near the Wyoming border.
