Greetings - If I may, i purchased several lamb fleeces from Robin Snyder several years ago - most of them were red/cream mix. They were beautiful and fun to spin. i didn't separate under from outer coat but spun a medium grist softly spun singles yarn which i wove into two really lovely throws, using cotton as warp. then brushed them up a bit after washing & blocking to give a halo effect. I gave one to a neighbor who helped me with my horse and his wife said it became 'grandpa's blanket' and the grandchildren all want to use it when they come to visit. The other one i kept and have totally enjoyed it - wouldn't part with it. is it as soft and light a cuddly as mohair? no, but it combines sturdy with softness enough for it's use as a small blanket - so think outside the rug box too. usual disclaimers about the Snyder Karakul sheep, but it was a fun experience spinning Karakul and Robin was wonderful to work with on helping to choose the fleeces for shipping to me.
