Hi Sarah, We met Richard today at the Henry Ford Greenfield Village. Had a great time. Spun on one of the Great Wheels. Most memorable, is that we were able to help with the old card. Jim was able to talk to the antique machines machinest and helped him with setting the drums and made some suggestions with carding the wool, etc. We found out that Richard is going to be in the same building as us at MD. We will be contacting him again.
His loom in the village is awesome. I can't believe the amount of time he and his wife have spent figuring out the one pattern and devising the punch cards for the loom. I asked him if he was training an apprentice and he said that was a problem he was having. So, if anyone in the Dearborn area wants to learn the ins and outs of this awesome loom, you need to contact him at the Village. This is a wonderful place of Americana. We've done Sturbridge, Plimouth, I hosted a Heritage Days in Warsaw, MO, but I've never seen anything like this. It beats Disneyland, hands down. In fact, it's better than the American History Museum in DC, which we did last year. If you get a chance to visit this area, plan at least two full days to see it all. Gail
