Here are some tips from Chaser’s dad, Today's can't miss science stuff 🐶 How one Border Collie learned 1000+ words [image: smrt] - *Start with tasks so simple, your dog can’t make a mistake.* And reward, reinforce, practice those tasks as much as possible! - *Play.* The more you play, the happier and more confident your lil’ scholar will be. - *Use “No” gently.* Dogs are sensitive to making mistakes, just like we are. Don’t be too harsh, or your dog will tune out the lesson. - *Let the puppy be a puppy.* When things get frustrating, take a step back and keep things fun! - *Teach verbs first, objects second.* Most commands are verbs- sit, catch, etc. After your dog has the actions on lockdown, *then* you can teach objects like “ball” or “frisbee.” (and teach one object at a time to keep things clear as crystal!) - *Learning builds on learning.* And nothing helps more than practice. Take it slow, practice consistently, and make sure your dog enjoys the process as much as you do.
