Finder and Spotlight definitely still use /.vol/$fsid/$inode, and it's been
quite the ride trying to get it to work with hardlinks, due to some
unexpected requirements on va_linkid. But then, you did say Carbon Framework...

Having said that, don't use .volfs, it's a huge pain :)
