Hi, I'm encrypting a 10.13.6 system, only 119GB in the volume being encrypted, and the GUI estimates over a day which seems like a really long time for such a small amount of data on an SSD. So I decided to look at dmesg and I see a constant stream of messages I do not grok, and nothing comes up in a Google search:
query_encryption_rolling_state:4135: er:query: returning following: 1, 12[652350, 27954275], 631748 handle_encryption_rolling:4203: er: request granted[0]. encrypt_live_fs_data:3174: er: restarting at fext: 0x6a0a5:0x0 [0]. Complete dmesg here: https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/KgV3CUJFn7oKaoj9AfS2Bg/raw Based on 'diskutil apfs list' and checking the conversion percentage change, it looks like about 2GB per hour. Meanwhile the Activity Monitor says the data write speed is ~8MB/s which should be more like 28GB an hour. And yet the data read speed is ~300KB/s so...it seems stuck, but I can't tell what it's doing. -- Chris Murphy _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
