PNU Turns 107 With the theme “Quality Teacher Education for Responsible
Citizenship and Good Governance,” the Philippine Normal University (PNU) marks
its 107th Foundation Anniversary with a weeklong (September 1-6) activities.
One hundred seven years ago on September 1, 1901, the Philippine Normal School
was established as the first institution of higher learning by the Americans.
PNU President Lutgardo B. Barbo welcomes the PNS-PNC-PNU alumni and the general
public to September 1-6 activities starting with parade, flag ceremony and
religious activities. A program for faculty and staff retirees and fellowship
lunch will be held. With Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recognition of
PNU as the No. 1 Center of Excellence in teacher education up to year 2011, PNU
