 INSTITUTION: The Petroleum Institute (PI) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab
Emirates was created in 2001 with the goal of establishing itself as a
recognized institution in engineering education and research in areas
of significance to the oil and gas and the broader energy industries.
The PI?s sponsors include the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company[1] and
four major other international oil companies, namely BP[2], Shell[3],
Jodco[4], and Total[5]. The Institute is affiliated with and has
collaborative programs in place with the Colorado School of Mines[6],
the University of Maryland[7] at College Park, The University of

 SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT AND WEB LIBRARIAN

 - LIBRARY

 The LIBRARY of the Petroleum Institute is currently experiencing
rapid growth in its collections and services and is now seeking
applications from professionally-accredited librarians for the
position of SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT AND WEB LIBRARIAN.

 POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Systems Development and Web Librarian
must combine an ability to lead developments and operations in the
library?s web-related activities and to integrate access to digital
information systems. Applicants must have demonstrated/documented
evidence of the successful management of web and computer systems
projects and networking.

 ABU DHABI, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is a modern
city with a population of almost a million. Abu Dhabi has direct air
links to most major cities in the world. Theatres, an international
film series, art exhibitions, and music concerts provide ample
cultural opportunities. Although founded just 37 years ago, the
Emirates is one of the most rapidly developing nations on earth.
Citizens comprise a moderate Muslim society in which freedom of
religion prevails and women are respected and free to dress in
western clothes.

 SALARY/BENEFITS: The total compensation package includes a tax-free
12-month base salary, and a benefits allowance that covers relocation,
housing, initial furnishings, utilities; transportation (automobile
purchase loan), health insurance, end-of-service benefit and annual
leave travel. Applicants must be in excellent health and will be
required to pass a pre-employment physical examination.
