Dear Friends, Even if you are not from Carson, CA, please support this Petitionto rename Moneta Avenue to Jose Rizal Avenue. See detailsbelow the Petition site. Here is what I wrote as a comment on this Petition: "We are all in need of heroes. The young people of Carson need heroes to serve as role models, and naming some streets in Carson to honor great men is a step in the right direction. For a multicultural city like Carson, each group should have a street named after their great men because this will encourage the Youth in the city to have a stronger sense of belongingand a stronger sense of self-identity and pride. So, I am in favor of eenaming Moneta Ave to Jose Rizal Avenue, national hero of the Philippinesto honor the ideals that our Youth need to emulate." Aside from the above, of course, naming a street after Jose P. Rizal willadd visibility to the Filipino American community that resides in the city.The businesses run by Fil Ams in Carson have helped build the citythat it is today, and just driving along Main Street will show it. So, I encourage you to sign the Petition in solidarity with the Fil Amsin Carson, even if you reside somewhere else in the globe.
