How I passed
the board exam 13th place

Taking a board exam is like giving birth. The whole process takes a
considerable time of your life, you are nervous, you don’t want to be
disturbed, you want to be absolutely ready for D’ day. Because of
that situation, you must give your all to it. Sayang lang kung
alanganin ka. You should not disturb your mind by the little things,
by your friends who want to go out, by your family. Make them
understand that what you’re into will affect the rest of your life and
that you have invested enough time, talent, money and effort into it.

Here’s how I did it, it may not work for you.

 I made an outline of the WHOLE field of librarianship (nursing for
you) on a long bond paper, folded length wise, with all the bullets;
 I studied each topic well and after I’m done, I put a check mark on
the topic;
 After I studied everything and if there’s still time, I go over
again;
 I recorded everything that needs to be memorized on a C120 cassette
tape and played it over and over again while I’m eating, walking (Sony
Walkman), taking a bath, riding a jeepney, and times that I’m not
studying and possible to play a tape;
 I hardly studied at night because after a while, I would just be
staring at a page and my mind’s not into it, so better sleep (pundo sa
tulog & energy);
 While reviewing, don’t forget to take your snacks, meals, &
vitamins, your mind should be in peak condition, as well as your body
(its just like Manny getting ready for a fight);
 In the morning, I pretend to go to work/school; I take a bath and
change to comfortable clothing, and after everybody in the house has
left, I study in a location that’s well lighted (natural lighting
preferably), well ventilated, and no disturbing mosquitoes  ;
 You should enroll in a review class, why? So that you will get more
knowledge from your faculty, from your reviewer, from your classmates,
and from the reviewers your classmates may have on hand;
 During our undergrad, our Faculty reminded us not to throw our
notebooks because those are good reviewers too;
 You should preferably asks or borrow reviewers from other review
centers because the more reviewers you are exposed, the more
questions, ideas and knowledge you will get, as simply as that;
 Your exam may be in another city; you may bring your books,
notebooks, and reviewers even if you may not read them all, if your
subconscious needs to be reassured that your knowledge is just nearby,
why not, bring them; you might get a mental block hehehe;
 You now feel astig, exams? Bring it on!
 On the day of the exams, be early, wear comfortable clothes; you
might be need to bring snacks and the correct set of pens or pencils
and your exam permit;
 Listen intently to the instructions of the proctor, a mistake might
jeopardize your exam;

Good luck and God bless!
