Based on AACCUP evaluation, it is considered recent if the materials are
copyrighted within the last 10 years so I included in my selection guidelines
the materials that are copyrighted within the last 10 years say: 1999-2009
for as long as they are badly needed.

Subject: [FilipinoLibrarians] Criteria for Selection

Hi to all,

I would need your opinion about the criteria about the copyright
date. I asked our teachers to recommend for library books which I
include the criteria to consider in selecting titles. I received a
number of reactions about the copyright date which I suggested within
the last 5 years. Seems that they aren't favorable about it, Im
flexible in getting old titles as long as it's considered classic/
historical but can't be so lenient all the way about it as we are
school library. If you have some link that I can present to them the
need to consider the copyright date in selecting titles, that would be
great. I currently have the IFLA/UNESCO manifesto about school
library. Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
alynn
