Hi Delia,

I am not a Librarian but my sister is. (She's Lucila Rogel, U.P. Class '59
(?) and retired librarian-cataloguer at the ADB.) But the library is my
inner sanctum since childhood and have been exploring ways and means to make
the library and exciting world for children who are now more engaged in
cyberspace than exploring the hard copies of books. Nevertheless, school
libraries will forever be in existence but very few, and rare indeed, would
schools explore or integrate a museum in their school complex.

I am an anthropologist and a functional literacy community-based specialist
who have worked for some two decades in setting up museum exhibits and few
regional museums while working at the National Museum and at the Museum of
Philippine Traditional Cultures. I have also done a paper on school museums
while taking a course in Educational Media at the now defunct Baguio
Vacation Normal School.I am also an avid collector of Filipiniana materials
and digitized photographs on Old Philippines. But sad to say my big
collection went under during typhoon Ondoy.

I may be able to offer some suggestions link you with museologist friends
and volunteer some assistance ( if within Metro-Manila area) if you can give
me a background of your school and the collection you intend to include or
display in the school museum.

Feel free to email me at:

Amelia Rogel-Rara
