The intensity calibration for the ScanWIt takes place the first time you do a scan after starting VueScan or whenever the scan resolution or crop offset changes. You can tell when it's doing the intensity calibration because it feeds the film holder most of the way in (to get to the small rectangular window at the front of the film holder).
