Good point - but one I though of! I tinkered with gamma, monitor
controls etc to optimise only the shadow details. It trashed anything
apart from the shadow detail but it did show that virtually all the
shadow detail had been captured. However, this was a Sensia slide,
rather than Velvia or Kodachrome, so perhaps not the very toughest
test. Generally, though, the Elite does seem quite good in this
respect (and, not surprisingly, much better than the LS-30 I
originally tried). Now how it compares to other scanners I couldn't
guess!
